Other in-scope services

Exam guide task statement 3.8: Identify services from other in-scope AWS service categories.

On this page

Know the one-line purpose of the application integration, business application, customer enablement, developer tool, end-user computing, frontend, and IoT services in scope.

Application integration (messages, alerts, notifications)

  • Amazon SNS: Publish/subscribe messaging: push one message to many subscribers (email, SMS, Lambda, SQS). Used for alerts and notifications.
  • Amazon SQS: Fully managed message queues that decouple components; consumers poll and process messages at their own pace.
  • Amazon EventBridge: Serverless event bus that routes events from AWS services, your apps, and SaaS partners to targets based on rules; also schedules tasks.
  • AWS Step Functions: Visual workflows that coordinate multiple services and steps.

Business applications

  • Amazon Connect: Cloud contact center (phone and chat customer service).
  • Amazon SES: Send transactional and marketing email at scale.

Customer enablement

  • AWS Support: Plans that provide technical and billing help (see Domain 4).

Developer tools

  • AWS CodeBuild: Managed build service that compiles code, runs tests, and produces packages.
  • AWS CodePipeline: Continuous delivery service that automates release pipelines (source, build, test, deploy).
  • AWS X-Ray: Traces requests through distributed applications to find performance bottlenecks and errors.
  • AWS CLI: Command line access to AWS.

End-user computing (show VMs and apps on user devices)

  • Amazon WorkSpaces: Managed virtual desktops (Desktop as a Service).
  • Amazon AppStream 2.0: Streams desktop applications to a browser. AWS renamed it Amazon WorkSpaces Applications in November 2025; the exam guide still uses the AppStream 2.0 name.
  • Amazon WorkSpaces Secure Browser: A managed, isolated web browser for securely reaching internal websites and SaaS apps.

Frontend web and mobile

  • AWS Amplify: Tools and hosting to build, deploy, and host full-stack web and mobile apps quickly.

Internet of Things

  • AWS IoT Core: Securely connect and manage billions of IoT devices and route their messages to AWS services.
